DD x Basel Art Summer Camp: Field trip to the Art World on June 19th

An impromptu adventure for divorcées (and the friends who love them)

What if Art Basel wasn’t intimidating, overwhelming, or something you had to do alone? What if it felt like a field trip—with cocktails and ladies?

Join me in Basel on Thursday, June 19th, for a full-day Dispatched Divorcée field trip into the art world. We’re calling it a meet-cute with contemporary art—Dispatched Divorcée style, of course.

No pressure. No insider credentials required. Just come hang with me (hi, I’m Laura 👋) and other women who’ve walked away from one life and are artfully building another.

Here’s the loose plan:

🖼 Morning – Ease Into Art

We’ll start our day at Hyve Hostel just a 3-minute walk from Basel’s central train station with coffee and croissants. A little calm before the storm. Friendly intros and a rundown of the day ahead. No awkward small talk—just a cozy start to the day and some new friends.

Then we’ll hop on a tram and head over to one of the main art fairs (Art Basel, Liste, or Fondation Beyeler—TBD based on what we’re feeling and are excited about). You don’t need to know the difference between curating and collecting—we’ll figure it out together.

🍽 Midday – Lunch with the Ladies

We’ll grab lunch somewhere casual and delicious in Basel (pay your own way), and you’ll be seated at your new favorite table of divorcées. Expect real conversation, good food, and maybe a few new besties.

✨ Afternoon & Evening – Basel Art Summer Camp @ Hyve Hostel

Around 3 PM we’ll head to Basel Art Summer Camp, a pop-up affordable art gallery where anyone can be a collector.

You’ll get a private gallery tour with Monica, the exquisite founder of Art Museums of the World and Basel Art Summer Camp.

🎤 5 PM: Panel Talk – “Why, What, and How I Collect”

I’ll be speaking on this panel alongside Sandra Flatt (a fellow divorcée!) and moderated by Monica. Expect short stories, big truths, and a warm conversation about surrounding yourself with beautiful things—on your own terms.

🎭 6:30 PM: The Dirty Thirty Performance

We’ll close the evening by watching a performance of The Dirty Thirty, brought to us by Kate Jones, co-founder of Degenerate Fox Theater Company (UK).

The Dirty Thirty is a rapid-fire explosion of 30 micro-plays, all performed in just one hour. Each piece is distinct—ranging from hilarious to thought-provoking, graceful to shocking, politically charged to delightfully absurd, or even musical. Rooted in the performers’ real lives, every story is authentic and immediate, reflecting the world as it is.

Kate Jones, alongside Sarah Lexen and Teddy Hoojiberg, will deliver a short version of this show.

Want to join us?

This is a fun, pay-your-own-way meetup, and I’ll create a WhatsApp group to keep us organized.

To join, complete the form below.

Divorcées and the friends who love them are welcome—everyone’s invited.

Come for the art, stay for the connection.
